Table grapes

Grottaglie is the queen of table grapes. The city of ceramics is one of the most important centres in Puglia for the production and marketing of table grapes, where the activity is developed on a cultivated land of about 2 thousand hectares with a production of 500 thousand quintals for a turnover of almost 38 million euros. From July to September, the Grottaglie table grapes wear the royal crown on tables all over Europe.

The Vittoria variety dominates, followed, in smaller areas, by the seedless white grape varieties. Finally, a niche of growers continues to cultivate the Regina variety.

The Vittoria grape is distinguished by its pyramid-shaped bunches, large grapes and slight sweetness. It is also interesting to learn that the Vittoria grape is very digestible, nutritious, energetic, rich in therapeutic virtues such as antioxidant, detoxifying, diuretic and many other known medical virtues.
Grottaglie has been awarded the title of City of Grapes and grape cultivation is one of the city’s main economic sectors.
